Raising Awareness by Blogging! Crescendo Ambassadors Rock #RABlog Week

Recently, Crescendo’s Patient Ambassadors rocked the blogosphere by participating in the 3rd Annual #RABlog Week. The initiative encouraged five days of blogging to raise awareness for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and other rheumatic conditions. Several of our Ambassadors got involved and had a lot of fun encouraging each other and sharing their thoughts on living with RA. From pursuing hobbies with RA to partnering with spouses and more, there was a ton of goodness and inspiration.

When we asked some of our participants what inspired them to blog, this is what we heard:

“It gave me a chance to talk about life with this disease. Isolation is such a problem, especially when you live in a small town. It was a tool to communicate with like-minded people and share about myself. It also gave me the opportunity to make others smile. That’s important for anyone in life. I love to write,” said Lori, aka the PAChickenWhispeRA, who cares for her family and animal friends when she’s not blogging at Making the Best of this Life One Spoon at a Time.

Beth, who advocates for RA patients, cares for her young children and blogs with her sister at RA Sisters, said, “I hadn’t posted anything for a while. This week gave me an opportunity to start back up and get to know some other bloggers. I enjoyed it so much. I started blogging to share my story in hopes it could help someone else going through some of the same issues. I hope my words of hope and support reached others struggling with RA and other autoimmune issues.”

“I wanted to participate in RA Blog week because awareness is so important to me, especially when we are talking about RA and mental health. I really struggled my first year. I want people who are struggling to know that there can still be happiness in our lives. We just have to be open to it. Two years ago I never would have dreamed that I would get to the place where I am today. Focusing on joy helped me get to this point,” added Elizabeth, the Texas RA Mom, who manages her daughter’s juvenile RA as well as her own, while teaching her daughter and children in China.
